Alliance CFM recently completed a radiator replacement at a domestic property after the existing unit was no longer heating the room as effectively as required.
Following an assessment of the issue, replacing the radiator was identified as the appropriate next step. The existing unit was removed and a new radiator installed before the colder weather arrived.
When Does a Radiator Need Replacing?
A radiator that is not performing properly does not automatically need to be replaced.
Cold spots, poor heat output or a room that struggles to reach temperature can have several possible causes, so the heating system should be assessed before deciding what work is required.
Depending on the issue, the appropriate solution may involve maintenance, a repair or replacement of the radiator itself.
For this homeowner, the condition and performance of the existing unit meant installing a new radiator was the suitable option.
Domestic Radiator Replacement
Replacing an existing radiator provides an opportunity to make sure the new unit is appropriate for the room and existing heating system.
The required size and heat output will depend on factors such as room dimensions, insulation, glazing, heat loss and how the space is used.
For a straightforward replacement, the condition and position of the existing pipework and connections also need to be considered before the new radiator is fitted.
Once installed, the radiator can be checked as part of the heating system to confirm it is operating as expected.
