Alliance CFM recently attended a gas appliance after combustion readings indicated an issue with its operation. Following investigation, the gas valve was identified as faulty and a new valve was installed to address the problem.
The work involved Shane both identifying the faulty component and carrying out the necessary remedial work to the appliance.
Faulty Gas Valve Identified
Combustion readings can provide useful information about how a gas appliance is operating and can help our engineers identify when further investigation is required.
In this case, the readings highlighted an issue with the appliance. The gas valve was subsequently identified as faulty, giving a clear direction for the remedial work required.
The existing valve was removed and replaced with a new gas valve suitable for the appliance.
New Gas Valve Installed
Once the faulty valve had been identified, the replacement was installed and the appliance was checked following the work.
Gas valves are an important component within a gas appliance, controlling the gas supply to the burner. Their operation therefore needs to be considered alongside the appliance’s combustion performance and the manufacturer’s requirements.
Following any gas component replacement, the appropriate checks need to be completed to confirm everything is operating correctly.
The Importance of Combustion Testing
Combustion testing is an important part of gas appliance servicing and fault finding. The readings give our team measurable information about combustion performance and can help identify when an appliance requires further investigation or remedial work.
The specific tests and acceptable readings depend on the appliance and manufacturer’s instructions, which is why combustion analysis needs to be carried out using the appropriate procedures for the appliance being worked on.
