Alliance CFM recently installed a new secondary hot water pump at a pastry factory, replacing the existing pump within the site’s commercial hot water system.
The work was completed by Shane, who removed the existing unit, installed the replacement and carried out the necessary connections and checks to ensure the new pump was operating correctly within the system.
Replacing a Secondary Hot Water Pump
A secondary hot water pump helps circulate water around the relevant hot water circuit, allowing the system to operate as intended across the connected areas of the building.
Replacing one of these pumps requires more than simply fitting a new unit. The replacement needs to be suitable for the existing installation, while the connections, pipework and surrounding components need to be considered as part of the work.
For this project, the new pump was installed into the factory’s existing hot water system, with the installation checked once the work was complete.
Commercial Hot Water System Maintenance
Commercial hot water systems can be larger and more involved than domestic installations, with pumps working alongside pipework, storage vessels, controls and other components.
When an individual component needs to be replaced, it is important that the new unit is appropriate for the system it is being installed into. The requirements will depend on the design of the installation, including the pipework arrangement and the circulation requirements of the hot water system.
Correct installation also provides an opportunity to check the surrounding connections and confirm that the replacement is operating properly once the work has been completed.
